Addicts with no hope of quitting being penalized
It feels good to pass laws that protect people's health. But retaining the rights of private property owners and the social lives of a minority group feels pretty good, too. It's unfortunate state lawmakers didn't choose to do both. They could have.
Instead, Oregon rang in the new year with an indoor smoking ban similar to bans in other states and cities. It prohibits smoking at all indoor work sites. Smoking is no longer allowed in bars or restaurants, and a person can't light þup within 10 feet of a business' windows or doors....read more
